December through April are considered the summer months in Costa Rica and are usually dry with warm temperatures averaging in the mid-upper 80's F. The months May through November are considered the Winter months, which we refer to as the "Green" season. These months are typically wetter, with intermittent afternoon, evening or night time showers. September and October are the wettest months. Even with the warm temperatures, it is always a good idea to bring a light sweater or jacket and other warm clothing if you plan on being in the central mountains or Pacific highlands. It is also recommended that you bring rain gear if you are visiting in the "Green" season.
